For every well event, the following are provided:
- Geological play assignment - assigned by Canadian Discovery Ltd.
- Play map and schematic - produced by Canadian Discovery Ltd.
Every well event is assigned to both an Objective Play and a Producing Play.
The Objective Play is the deepest geological play that the well targeted with any reasonable chance of economic success, as interpreted by our in-house geotechnical staff. All well events, for a given well, have the same Objective Play. This play assignment is crucial to determining statistics such as chance of success, because all well events, not just those resulting in production, need to be incorporated into the calculations.
The Producing Play is the geological play assigned to any producing or potentially productive event, as interpreted by our in-house geotechnical staff. A well with multiple events can have multiple producing plays. This play assignment provides a means to examine all available data regardless of the target.
The schematic below illustrated two well bores with differing Objective Plays.
In terms of Wellbore X:
- The Objective Play for both well events is the Banff - Subcrop play as it is the deepest geological play encountered with a reasonable chance of economic success.
- The Producing Play for the first completed event (Banff Formation) is the Banff - Subcrop play. This is the Primary Completion.
- The Producing Play for the second completed event (Ellerslie Formation) is the Basal Quartz-Ellerslie - Sands play. This is the Secondary Completion.
In terms of Wellbore Y:
- The Objective Play for both well events is the Leduc - Reef play as it is the deepest geological play encountered with a reasonable chance of economic success.
- The Producing Play for the first completed event (Leduc Formation) is the Leduc - Reef play. This is the Primary Completion.
- The Producing Play for the second completed event (Banff Formation) is the Banff - Subcrop play. This is the Secondary Completion.
