|
| Well Location |
The bottom hole location that the well was drilled to including: LSD, Section, Township, Range and Meridian. |
| Well Name |
The assigned well name as reported by one of four provincial governments. |
| Well Count |
The number of well events in a given found set. |
| Well Event (Completion Event) |
A well in Western Canada can have multiple well events. A well event is a significant drilling or completion operation that has its own unique set of data. The EDGE separates the first or initial completion event from the subsequent drilling events in order to obtain a more accurate count of the number of actual wells drilled, as well as to better access the actual risk factors in any particular area or play. The initial completion in a well is assigned the zero event sequence (00). Subsequent completions are assigned the next available numerical value starting at (02). A new event sequence is required when an existing well is completed in a new zone. |
| Well Class |
Divides all government well classifications into exploration or development as follows:
Exploration - DPT (Deeper Pool Test), NFW (New Field Wildcat), NPW (New Pool Wildcat), OUT (Outpost), SPT (Shallow Pool Test)
Development - DEV (Development), DEVS (Development Service), EVAL (Evaluation), EVAL OSD (Oil Sand Evaluation), EXP (Experimental), WSW (Water Source Well) |
| All Wells |
All classes of wells that are reported by the provincial government are included in the All Wells designation. |
| Development Well |
Includes Development (DEV), Development Service (DSERV), Water Source Well (WSW), Evaluation (EVAL), Experimental ( EXP) and Other. |
| Exploration Well |
Includes New Field Wildcat (NFW), New Pool Wildcat (NPW), Deeper Pool Test (DPT), Shallow Pool Test (SPT) and Outpost (OUT). |
| Status |
The listed status of the well as reported by one of four provincial governments. |
| Service |
Classified as a service well by one of four provincial governments. |
| D & A |
Dry and abandoned as classified by one of four government agencies. |
| Standing |
Classified as a standing well by one of four provincial governments. |
| Suspended |
Classified as a suspended well by one of four government agencies. |
| Completed Gas Well |
All wells in a given data set that have been given the status of gas, suspended gas, or abandoned gas. |
| Completed Oil Well |
All wells in a given data set that have been given the status of oil, suspended oil, or abandoned oil. |
| Completed Percent (%) |
All wells in a given data set excluding dry and abandoned, service and locations. Expressed as a percentage of the total wells drilled. |
| Average Depth |
Total meters drilled (measured depth) for the play, divided by the number of wells drilled in the found set. |
| Total Vertical Depth (TVD) |
The total depth minus the horizontal depth. |
| Vertical Well |
Any well drilled vertically as assigned by one of four provincial governments. |
| Horizontal Well |
Any well drilled horizontally as assigned by one of four provincial governments. |
| Horizontal Flag (Hz, H) |
Horizontal wells are denoted with an Hz or H. |
