Compound Searches

Some types of searches cannot be entered into a single search screen. For example, only one operator and only one rectangular area can be specified at a time. Compound searches, using multiple records, provide the solution.

Begin a compound search as you would any other. For example, to search two operators, enter the first operator in the General Information Box.

A single search record has now been created. To create a second record, select (click on) the multiple button located in the search menu at the top of the screen.

Adds an additional blank set of search parameters (search record) to the existing set.

A new blank search screen will load, and the notebook on the left-hand menu will show that there are now two records.

Enter the second set of search criteria and then execute as for a Simple Search.

It is also possible to carry over constants from one set of search parameters to the next. For example, to search two operators' activity in the Frobisher zone from 2000 to Present, select the first operator and enter the Producing Zone and Rig Release criteria.

This time, instead of using multiple, select (click on) the duplicate button.

Adds a duplicate version of the current set of search parameters.

This time an exact copy of the original search screen parameters will load. The only way to know that this is indeed a second record is that the the notebook on the left-hand menu will show that there are now two records.

Now, change the operator field to pick up the second operator while leaving all other fields intact. Then execute as for a Simple Search.

If you accidentally create more records than you require, or wish to eliminate a record part way through, use the Delete button.

Removes one set of search parameters from an existing set.

It is also possible to eliminate a particular subset of data from any given search. For example, suppose you wanted to search the Frobisher Zone from 2000 to Present for all operators EXCEPT Flagship Energy Inc.

First, create a record to search all Frobisher Zones from 2000 to Present.

Use the button to create a second record, and add Flagship Energy to the second set.

Now, check the Omit button located on the left hand menu.

When you execute the search, the EDGE will first isolate all Frobisher well events from 2000 to present and then omit all records with Flagship Energy Inc. assigned to the operator field.

Once the execution is complete, and the search has been verified, choose between the EDGE Instant Report, Play Types, Producing Zones, Operators and Trends tabs to investigate the results of your search.
