| Québec The emerging Ordovician Utica and Lorraine shale gas play in the Lowlands is progressing from vertical to horizontal pilot drilling. Encouraging results and new reserve estimates are spurring optimism and increased land permitting. While some operators are on hiatus due to economic uncertainty, others are advancing their exploration programs. |
Onshore New Brunswick Low gas prices have temporarily halted Corridor’s development drilling program at the McCully Field, but positive results from liquid propane fracs could double the field’s output. The in-place shale gas resource in the Elgin and Sussex sub-basins northeast of McCully is independently estimated at 1.9 E12M3 (67 tcf), which should spur some interest. |
